KIPP OKC Charter Renewed for Two More Years Following Strong Presentation to OKCPS Board

KIPP OKC Public Schools is proud to share that our charter has been renewed for an additional two years by the Oklahoma City Public Schools Board. The decision came after Superintendent Michael Carter Jr. presented on November 6th, providing an update on the school’s academic progress, financial strength, and future vision.

During the meeting, the Board expressed praise not only for the work happening in classrooms, but also for Superintendent Carter’s leadership and the district’s commitment to growth and improvement. Board members acknowledged the clear academic gains, the intentional planning behind proficiency-focused instruction, and the financial outlook that positions KIPP OKC for long-term sustainability.

A Moment of Recognition and Momentum

Over the past year, KIPP OKC has:

  • Demonstrated strong student achievement growth     in literacy and math

  • Prioritized grade-level proficiency through      aligned curriculum and coaching

  • Strengthened financial structures to support      stability and expansion

  • Launched a bold vision to expand into PreK–5      elementary programming

These efforts reflect a shared belief — that with the right supports, our students rise.

Board Praises Leadership & Strategic Direction

In their discussion, Board members applauded the clarity of vision KIPP OKC presented. They recognized the Superintendent for leading focused academic strategy, operational improvement, and responsible financial stewardship. The Board also noted appreciation for the district’s transparency, commitment to excellence, and readiness to grow seats for Oklahoma City families.

Their vote of renewal is a vote of confidence — in our students, our staff, and our leadership.

Grateful for Partnership, Rooted in Purpose

We are deeply thankful to:

  • The OKCPS Board of Education for their      trust and continued partnership

  • Superintendent Carter for      championing academic excellence and sustainable growth

  • Teachers, staff, and leaders who work daily      to support and inspire scholars

  • Families and community partners who believe in      our mission and stand beside us

Together, we are building a school where children are affirmed, challenged, and prepared for a future without limits.

Looking Ahead

As we move into this new charter term, we remain steadfast in our goals:

  • Increase proficiency and accelerate student growth

  • Expand access to high-quality public education

  • Strengthen early learning through our PreK–5 model

  • Continue raising the bar for academic and      community excellence

This renewal marks progress — but it is also a beginning. The future of KIPP OKC is rising.
